Cattle Station in North Queensland, 115 Km west of Mt. Isa, close to the Northern Territory border. After Mt Isa airport, there’s a bridge, and from that bridge it’s 102 km straight, then turn left. There is a sign for Flora Downs.

Pays $85 a day for 10 hours work, so not eligible for 2nd year visa.

Low pay, disrespectful owners

1/ 5

I was paid $85 for a 12-hour day. They were rude and disrespectful to workers often shouting at us for no reason. They didn’t give any advice on how they wanted tasks to be performed, just shouted when they weren’t done in the correct way. Constant stream of abuse. Appalling lack of concern over a dog bite which left a girl with nasty scars. All in all, shabby operators.

Horrible, rude and ignorant people!

1/ 5

My experience with Flora downs was nothing short of disgraceful! Not due to the work or long house but just how me and the other backpacker where treated… From day 1 all you get is abuse and talked to like crap. i spent a lot of time and money to go and work for these people and drove from Brisbane to work in a place that should of been life changing. But all i got was to be treated like dirt, the animals got spoken to better than us. I was also told that they could get me my second year visa but gave me no proof of this, and just told me to take pictures around the farm as proof. i would urge no other person to go and work for this family. all in all me and the other backpacker left together and left them with no workers just the mother and daughter. but for me they got what they deserved!
